World music on Hawaiian Guitar

Jaywant has been a performer of  North Indian classical music

on Hawaiian Guitar.Started learning at the age of 8 years from

Sri S.N.Mukherjee.Took further training from Sri Dineshkumar Sampat

and also won many prizes during school and college days including

the prestigious J.C.Bahl competition organised by the Sydenham College,

Bombay in September 1983.


PROGRAMMES GALORE

Completed Sangeet Visharad from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in November 1991 under the guidance of Sri B.Kishtaiah.Represented the Government of Andhra Pradesh at the National Youth Festival at Bhopal in the year 1995. Performed in 1996 at the Vadya Madhuri Festival organised by the Music Academy ,Chennai & in the National Integration Concert at Sri Thyagaraja Gana Sabha.Also performed for the Department of Culture,Government of Andhra Pradesh at Ravindra Bharati and participated in many Youth Festivals including the Deepika youth Festival 98 at Sunderayya Kala Nilayam.Performed at the prestigious A.P.Police Academy in 1998. He also perrformed at the National Police Academy,Raj Bhavan Hyderabad, Vishaka Music & Dance Academy,Vizag; National Centre For Performing Arts, Mumbai; Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan,Mumbai; Necklace Road Festival,Hyderabad;Alliance Francaise ,Hyderabad.

  MY GUITAR

The Hawaiian Guitar has been suitably modified to make it

more adaptable to Indian Classical music. There are a total of

19 strings on Jaywant's Hawaiian Guitar.There are 13 sympathetic

 strings on the lower fret board and 3 chikari strings.

MAJOR PERFORMANCES

PENANG YTL ARTS FESTIVAL, 2003,MALAYSIA

Further to solo performances as a Hindustani classical musician,he has combined with young carnatic and Hindustani musicians on Flute,Violin and Sitar to give Jugalbandi / Duet performances. Also conducted an Instrumental Ensemble titled 'Swaranjali' with a team of young classical musicians. He has also conducted a program of SHOONYA band comprising of Satyajit Talwalkar,Mukul Dongre,Aarti Ankleker,Harmeet Manseta and Rupak Kulkarni.
